The Dave Braun Trio is a traditional jazz trio in the style of Barney Kessel. Dave say’s “My goal has always been to sound like the great piano trios such as Oscar Peterson and Nat King Cole. I have always approached the guitar as a chordal instrument. I love the mixture of single line playing with full block chord riffs. While Joe Pass is my biggest influence in solo playing I feel Barney Kessel was the master of the guitar trio.” Dave is joined by his wife Paula, an accomplished flutist and pianist, on fret less bass and his son Pete on drums. Dave say’s “this is the best group that I have played with. We are all from the same school of jazz. We think, play and breathe together. They know where I am going and their time is impeccable.” Trio playing is the most challenging but in return is the most rewarding and where Dave distinguishes himself from the others.
|The Dave Braun Quartet adds vocalist Steve Singer. Steve, who is also a guitarist and pianist, has a style similar to Kenny Rankin and is a major reason for their 15 year run at the Hob Nob Restaurant in Kenosha. Their sets are split evenly between trio and vocals providing something for everyone.
The Dave Braun Trio/Quartet is available for club work or your private party.
